EASA Certification Specifications for Large Aeroplanes (CS-25) are the European equivalent of the US 14 CFR Part 25 airworthiness standards. CS-25 Section 25.1353 and associated Acceptable Means of Compliance (AMC) address battery installations on large civil aircraft.
For novel electric and hybrid-electric propulsion systems, EASA supplements CS-25 with Special Conditions, most notably Special Condition E-19 (SC E-19) for electric and hybrid propulsion systems. CS-25 applies to transport category aircraft certified in Europe and forms part of the certification basis accepted bilaterally with the FAA under the US–EU Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement (BASA).
