The State of Certified Energy (SOCE) means the measured or on-board usable battery energy at a specific point in its lifetime, expressed as a percentage of the certified usable battery energy.
This compares to State of Health (SoH) which is an informal industry term that varies in calculation across carmakers. Whereas SOCE provides a standardised, regulation-grade measurement obtained through controlled charge-discharge test cycles.
SOCE is tied to the durability and performance reporting requirements introduced by the EU Battery Regulation, which is driving standardised state-of-health and usable-energy reporting for batteries placed on the EU market.
