Graphene cathode and aluminium anode, high charge rate battery technology. The research by Professor Gao Chao at Zhejiang University has the following claims:
- 91% of its original capacity after 250,000 cycles.
- Fully charged in 1.1 seconds.
- Wide operating temperature range -40 to 120°C
- It can be folded.
- Does not explode when exposed to fire.
However, there are a number of challenges:
- Low gravimetric and volumetric energy density.
- High cost – due to electrolyte used.
