Sodium Ion Prussian Blue Analogues

Sodium Ion Prussian Blue Analogues (PBAs) possess an open 3D framework with large channels that allow for “zero-strain” intercalation of sodium ions, suitable for long-cycle life applications.

  • Compositions:
    • Iron-based (Fe-PBAs): Such as Sodium Iron Hexacyanoferrate (FeHCF or NaxFe[Fe(CN)6]). These are noted for low cost and high power capability.
    • Manganese-based (Mn-PBAs): Sodium Manganese Hexacyanoferrate (MnHCF). Often referred to as “Prussian White” when fully sodiated (Na2Fe2(CN)6), this material is a key candidate for commercial cells due to its use of abundant elements.
    • High-Entropy PBAs: Incorporating multiple metals (e.g., Fe, Cu, Ni, Mg, Zn) to inhibit phase transitions.
