Laser Welding

Laser welding is one of many welding techniques used in the battery industry.

Welding in Multi mode instead of Single mode laser beam, can increase the thermal strain on the Current Collector due to the higher heat input.

For a real-world example of can-cap laser welding parameter development and its effect on weld quality and burst pressure, see Can-Cap Welding of Structural 4680 Aluminium Cell Can.

Needs review: this page is only a couple of sentences for a major welding technique used throughout cell and pack manufacturing. It should be expanded to cover laser welding parameters (power, speed, beam mode), typical battery applications (tab-to-busbar, can-to-cap, terminal welding), and its advantages/limitations versus other welding methods.
