When we look at Busbars and Busbar Joints we need to also think about the fasteners. Firstly we need to consider the key requirements of any fastener:
- apply a predictable force to the joint
- maintain joint through lifetime taking into account
- vibration
- thermal expansion
- repeatable application in manufacturing
Needs review: this page lists the key requirements for busbar fasteners but doesn’t yet cover the actual fastener types/selection guidance (e.g. bolted joints, spring/Belleville washers for maintaining preload under thermal cycling, self-clinching studs, torque control, galvanic compatibility with the busbar material) needed to meet those requirements. Expanding this needs a subject-matter pass rather than an automated one.
