India’s Battery Pack Aadhaar Number (BPAN) echoes the EU Battery Passport and UN traceability standards we are already shaping through global ISO standards.
Battery Passport
The global shift towards digital battery passports and enhanced traceability regulations, primarily focused on the electric vehicle (EV) sector.
This assigns a unique 21-character identity number to every EV battery, aims to address serious concerns regarding end-to-end traceability and recycling, while also supporting a circular economy.
This is required for:
- Electric Vehicle Batteries for the L category
- Electric Vehicle Batteries for the M and N category
- Industrial Batteries with capacity > 2kWh
