Lithium-Ion Traction Battery Pack and System for Electric Vehicles: Part 1 — High Power Applications
GB/T 31467.1-2015 specifies the test methods and performance requirements for lithium-ion traction battery packs and systems used in high-power electric vehicle applications, primarily hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) where peak power delivery is the primary design driver. It was issued by the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) and forms Part 1 of the GB/T 31467 series, which is the Chinese national adaptation of the ISO 12405 international standard series. The standard was implemented on 1 October 2015.

Current edition: GB/T 31467.1-2015
Part of series: GB/T 31467 series (Parts 1, 2, and 3); Part 3 covers safety requirements
Status: Recommended (GB/T prefix) — voluntary but widely referenced for MIIT vehicle type approval
Based on: ISO 12405-1:2011 (High power applications), adapted for Chinese EV market conditions
Scope
GB/T 31467.1 applies to lithium-ion traction battery packs and systems installed in road electric vehicles designed for high-power applications, including:
- Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs): full and mild hybrid vehicles where the battery primarily supports motor assist and regenerative braking rather than extended electric range
- Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs): vehicles with both combustion engines and significant electric range capability
- High-power BEV systems: battery systems where peak power-to-energy ratio (C-rate) is the dominant design constraint
Key Test Items
- Capacity and energy: rated capacity and energy measurement at standard conditions; capacity at different discharge rates
- Power characteristics: peak power at various state of charge levels; power fade with cycling
- Charge and discharge efficiency: round-trip energy efficiency measurement at defined conditions
- High and low temperature performance: capacity and power retention at -20°C, 0°C, 25°C, and 55°C
- Cycle life: standard cycle life (number of charge/discharge cycles to 80% capacity retention) and operational cycle life using application-specific duty cycles for HEV/PHEV service profiles
- Internal resistance: DC internal resistance measurement at defined SOC and temperature points
- Storage performance: capacity retention and recovery after defined storage period at elevated temperature
Relationship to GB/T 31467 Series
- Part 1 (this standard): performance testing for high-power (HEV/PHEV) applications
- Part 2 (GB/T 31467.2-2015): performance testing for high-energy (BEV) applications
- Part 3 (GB/T 31467.3-2015): safety requirements and test methods — the safety counterpart to Parts 1 and 2; replaced in part by GB 38031-2020
