MIL-STD-810, Environmental Engineering Considerations and Laboratory Tests, is the US Department of Defense standard for environmental qualification testing of military equipment, including battery systems used in military aircraft, ground vehicles and portable equipment. The current version is MIL-STD-810H.
MIL-STD-810 defines a comprehensive range of environmental test methods including: high and low temperature, temperature shock and cycling, humidity, fungus resistance, salt fog, sand and dust, explosive atmosphere, immersion, acceleration, vibration, acoustic noise, shock, pyroshock, combined environments, acidic atmosphere and freeze-thaw. For military aircraft battery qualification, relevant test methods are selected based on the expected service environment. MIL-STD-810 test methods are sometimes referenced as a baseline for severe-environment qualification in civilian aerospace and industrial battery programmes.
