Cell Pilot Line

A flexible line used to make tens or hundreds of battery cells and to prove the technology can be made on a production line. This also allows initial testing of larger cell quantities and with closer cell to cell tolerance.

Impact of Characterisation Techniques on Scale-up

This work demonstrates a scale-up process for a proprietary niobium-containing anode material, highlighting the challenges that needed to be met and overcome: from initial small-scale (tens of g) electrode coatings to optimised the formulation of the electrodes at 10L scale. Over 200 pouch cells containing the niobium-based anode against the single crystal NMC532 were built and tested. The pouch cells retained over 90 % of their initial discharge capacity over 2500 charge/discharge cycles under accelerated aging conditions at a rate of 2 C at 45 °C.
