There are basically three slitter cutting control parameters for the shear cut method, which uses the same principle as scissors.
- Contact Pressure – the pressure that occurs when the upper knife and lower knife exert force on each other.
- Toe-In – viewed from the top and forward direction of the knife. The slight forward tilt as shown in the figure is called toe-it. This is shown as an angle, but this is too small to express as an angle and is expressed as a force.
- Overlap Value – this is the depth of the upper and lower knives.
These three factors can be controlled manually or automatically.
