The battery value chain looks at the whole eco system from mining the raw materials through to recycling.

The value is perhaps normally thought of simply in terms of financial returns, but this eco system needs to look at many factors:
- money
- skills
- trade
- industrial base
- environment
It also needs to look ahead at the technology roadmap, resources and legislation.
- Mining
- Refining
- Cell Components
- Cell Assembly
- Pack Components
- Pack Assembly
- Product Assembly
- In-use
- Service and repair
- Remanufacture
- Re-use
- Recycling
As we look at each of these we see underlying common themes such as Research, Logistics and Training.

Battery Cell Manufacturing Process
In order to engineer a battery pack it is important to understand the fundamental building blocks, including the battery cell manufacturing process. This will allow you to understand some of the limitations of the cells and differences between batches of cells. Or at least understand where these may arise.
