2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV uses the Ultium battery pack design. This pack goes across a number of the vehicles in GM’s stable and we covered an overview of the design 18 months ago. The basic premise is to use one pouch cell design within different module configurations to cover a wide range of pack sizes.

Packs

What we see in this table is that the Silverado EV is being positioned to have 3 battery pack options with usable energy of ~133kWh, 167kWh and 200kWh.

All of the Silverado pack options are split pack and hence able to charge at 800V with the packs arranged in Series and to drive at 400V with the packs arranged in parallel.

  • Capacity = 99.3 Ah (as declared by GMX EPA filing for the 2024 Silverado)
  • Nominal voltage = 3.7 V
  • Nominal energy = 367 Wh
  • mass = 1.36 kg
  • Gravimetric energy density = 270 Wh/kg

For the Hummer derivative of this battery pack the EPA filing gives a cell capacity of 103Ah and for the Silverado filing the capacity is later in time and down-graded to 99.3Ah

Assumption is that the largest 200kWh pack is the same as the Hummer pack, if you have details of the structural differences please do share.

Pack Metrics

    • Volumetric = 209 Wh/litre
