EV Review: Renault Megane E-Tech Techno 220cp, 60kWh

My first new car (ever) is an EV Renault Megane E-Tech Techno 220cp 60 kWh.

EV Details:

  • MFG Date: Nov 2025
  • Battery Size: 60 kWh usable (65 kWh Nominal)
  • Battery Chemistry : Li-ion NMC.
  • Motor: 220cp
  • Range Combined Cold weather: 320km (Estimated)
  • Range Combined Mild weather: 440km (Estimated)

My Experience

Total km till Date: 573 km. I only did few trips near the house before one long trip (details below). I have solar panels at home so I am charging Type 1 with maximum 2.3 kW charger. Need to level up with a socket (purchased but not installed) to 3.6kW.

Trips out of Town: 1 (450km roundtrip). I got about 19-20kWh/100km. (14kWh Propulsion, 6 kWh Auxiliary mainly Heating). Temperature during the Trip was sub zero with minimum being -6 degrees.

Before the trip I was anxious I charged the car a day before to 100% using almost 50% Solar from 64% to 100% in 9.30 hours. (50% as it was not fully sunny plus I started 8am and finished 5.30pm).

I started in afternoon with temperatures around -5degrees celsius.Total distance 217 km. First leg 121km, Battery start 97% to 55%. (58>>33kWh=25kWh consumed). Second leg 97km (80% to 50%, 48>>30kWh=18kWh consumed). Total consumption=43kWh or 19.81kWh/100km.
Between two legs I stopped for charging at DC Fast charger Eldrive 150 kW (My first charging outside of home, started charging quite easily as I had the app downloaded before leaving for trip. But oops rookie mistake started the car and charging stopped. Had to restart the charging). Charging 55% to 80% (33 to 58 kWh = 15 kWh in 19 mins (avg 50kW) at 0.5€/kW. 7.5€.

Back to home was also exact 217km, first leg 75% to 42% (94km at 20kWh consumption), charging stop 42% to 80% at same Eldrive in 23 mins at 60kW avg. Second leg 80% to 45% (123km at 21kWh consumption). Total consumption 41kWh at 18.9 kWh/100litres.

I have been driving ICE cars all my life, I was freaking out even if I know about EV, batteries etc. But its so simple there is so many charging options and you can easily plan out trips. The cost of travel out of town is cheaper like 50% than ICE and for home city travels its almost 0 or next to nothing (for someone like me with Solar panels who has a lot credit kW this year I have about 2MW).
Renault Megane E-Tech driving experience was or is awesome, one pedal driving, adaptive cruise control, early warning, android OS system with google integrated maps which tells you range estimated at arrival is just great. Overall the car (Battery, motor, driving) is perfect. Looking forward to more trips.

I have ordered OBD dongle to see with Car scanner more about my auxillary consumption. Another lesson learned on DC fast charging is to have the car/battery primed or heated makes charging faster at higher kW. Driving EV vs ICE I am more at peace and not a manic driver which my wife definitely appreciates.
