The Rivian R1 Gen 2 Battery has some big claims and appears to be a consolidation of the first generation of design (RIvian R1T Gen 1).

The most obvious change is the enclosure profile as this is now a large high pressure casting. This accounts for a lot of their claims:
- Module
- Part count reduced from 47 to 26 (not including the cells)
- Pack
- Assembly efficiency increased by 37%
- Enclosure part count reduced from 41 to 16
- Weld costs reduced by 83%
- Reduced by 70kg

Looking at the EPA applications from Rivian, they declare the battery pack weights for the Dual Max and the associated gravimetric density.
| Dual Max | 24MY (2023 launch) | 25MY (2024 launch) |
| Total Battery Weight [kg] | 820 | 787 |
| Specific Energy [Wh/kg] | 182 | 190 |
| Calculated Energy [kWh] | 149.24 | 149.53 |
This shows that the weight save for the largest of the battery packs is 33kg, not the 70kg as claimed in the investor day presentation.
Reduced cost of front crossmember by 47%, replacing 17 pieces with a high-pressure die casting.
