Robot Battery Swap

The UBTECH Robotics Walker S2 robot battery swap demonstrates a robot that can operate indefinitely.

The robot has two battery packs, thus allowing one to be removed and placed in the charger before a fully charged pack is taken from the charge station and placed in the robot.

Uses: Factory floor automation, assembly line co-worker, logistics material transport, quality control inspection, battery swapping and maintenance tasks [2].

Battery pack specifications:

  • Total energy = 2.3 kWh
  • Nominal voltage = 48 V
  • Power demand
    • Average = 1.5 kW during operation [2]
    • Peak = 2.2 kW under load [2]
  • 2 hours active operation per battery charge [1]
    • assuming this is a single pack => average power demand = 1.15 kW
  • Charging
    • 90 minutes for a full recharge
    • 3 minutes for autonomous hot‑swap exchange
  • Operating Temperature
    • 0 °C to 45 °C optimal
    • survival −10 °C to 60 °C
