Molicel P45B 21700 Tests

Initial tests of the Molicel P45B 21700 cells.

Conditions:

Measured with calibrated precision class 0.01 instruments for rated capacity measurement STANDARD at C/5 …. and more.

1. Recharge at 4.200V at 4.5A and stop at 0.09A,
2. Rest for 3 hours,
3. Discharge at C/5 at 23°C down to 2.50V: )

All measurement including recharge were made using 4 wire (Kelvin) connections for top accuracy.

2 samples were tested:

At C/5

• Sample 1: 4.485Ah for 16.30Wh for a Vnom of 3.63V at 22°C
• Sample 2: 4.492Ah for 16.33Wh for a Vnom of 3.64V at 22°C

At 1C :

• Sample 1: 4.396Ah for 15.78Wh for a Vnom of 3.59V at 22°C
• Sample 2 : 4.402Ah for 15.79Wh for a Vnom of 3.59V at 22°C

At 2C :

• Sample 1: 4.411Ah for 15.60Wh for a Vnom of 3.54V at 22°C
• Sample 2 : 4.429Ah for 15.67Wh for a Vnom of 3.54V at 22°C

At 5C :

• Sample 1: 4.360Ah for 14.67Wh for a Vnom of 3.36V at 22°C
• Sample 2 : 4.367Ah for 14.73Wh for a Vnom of 3.37V at 22°C

At 8.9C (40A) air cooled  to stay below 80 degree C:

• Sample 1: 4.253Ah for 13.66Wh for a Vnom of 3.21V at 22°C
• Sample 2 : 4.260Ah for 13.67Wh for a Vnom of 3.21V at 22°C

ACIR 1kHz at 30% SOC (just like the Molicel spec [1] is measured):

• Sample 1: 6.23 milliohms at 22°C ( spec is 7 milliohms typical)
• Sample 2: 6.20 milliohms at 22°C ( spec is 7 milliohms typical)

Weight:

• Sample 1 weight: 66.74g
• Sample 2 weight: 66.75g

• (Cell plastic shrink weight 600mg, not included in the measurement)
• Only 10mg diff between 2 random samples
