On 1st November 2023 Renault established Ampere as an electric vehicle and software company as part of its Renaulution plan. Both Mitsubishi and Nissan have significant investments in Ampere. Initially Ampere was to be spun off, but that appears to have been put on hold.
Ampere, the group’s intelligent electric vehicle pure player, has an uncompromising vision: federate the best partners, establish Europe as its epicentre, strengthen local sectors, deploy technologies for every use, and reach price parity with thermal vehicles.

The Battery cells are from 4 different companies [1]:
- AESC located within Ampere ElectriCity hub, in Douai (France), for NCM batteries.
- CATL for LFP technology, from their plant in Hungary
- LGES for both NCM and LFP batteries, built in their plant in Poland.
- Verkor for NCM technology, from its gigafactory based in Dunkerque (France)
- LFP to launch in 2026 and enables pack cost to be reduced by 20%
- Ampere and LGES have developed Cell to Pack technology using pouch cells [2].

BMS hardware and software is in-house. The battery enclosures are being made as part of a JV with Minth.
The whole assembly is being undertaken by Ampere.
To date the vehicles engineered and on the Ampere platforms are:
- Renault Megane E-Tech
- Renault Scenic E-Tech
- Renault 5 E-Tech
- Renault 4 E-Tech
- Prototype Renault Twingo E-Tech

2026 has arrived. :-) You should add information for the MY 2027 Renault Megane E-Tech.
67 kWh LFP, 232 cells, new LFP pouch cells to existing pack, larger height, less ground clearance.

My beliefs: Luckily, 232 has very few factors.
from images: 4x 10s4s modules plus 2x 9s4s modules (these are stacked vertically on top of each other under rear seat section) => total 116s 2p
This would mean 90 Ah cells (to get 232 cells), but they look like made from 45Ah in 2p in the picture.
Cells look similar to BYD-like half blade cells, but are supposed to be pouch cells.
New strategy: drop other battery options (all NMC) in Megane, Renault likely to only offer the LFP 67 kWh version
thank you, very interesting
pulled the data in and took a look at the design from the YouTube video you share: https://www.batterydesign.net/2026-renault-megane-e-tech/ have to say this design doesn’t look that great just based on the frame as much as anything
Organizational changes at Renault, marking a clear return to mixed and multi-energy platforms::
“Ampere” branding and sub-organization mostly dropped, consolidated back into Renault.

New platform names: no longer AmpR Small and AmpR Medium, but “RGEV Small” and “RGEV Medium”.
Future RGEV Medium 2.0 announced with 800V support.
