Daimler Trucks eActros 300 and 400

mercedes eactros 300-400

The Daimler Trucks eActros 300 and 400 are all electric trucks. The first models from Daimler Trucks as they move towards electrification.

The 4×2 and 6×2 urban distribution vehicle offers a capacity of up to 27t, wheelbases from 4-5.5m and range of up to 400km (250mi) with four batteries, or 300km (186mi) with three batteries.

The building block of the packs is the CB400 pack that can be connected in parallel to maintain system voltage whilst increasing energy content.

CB400

On the UN38.3 test summary [1] the individual 112kWh packs that are used as the building block are described as CB400.

Specifications:

  • total energy = 112kWh per pack with 3 or 4 packs used in each vehicle
    • eActros 300 = 336kWh
    • eActros 400 = 448kWh
  • usable energy = 105kWh (some reports of 97kWh usable)
    • eActros 300 = 315kWh
    • eActros 400 = 420kWh
  • peak power =
  • continuous power =
  • nominal voltage [V]
  • capacity [Ah]
  • voltage range [V]
  • weight = 734kg
  • volume [litres]
  • pack dimensions x,y,z [m]
  • number of cells [#]
  • charging
    • the eActros 300 (3 packs) charged 20to 80% in 75 minutes at a 160 kW rapid charging point with a charging current of 400 A
  • cell format
  • cooling system
  • cell make and model
  • cell Chemistry = NMC
  • pack cost

Using these we can ascertain a number of the key pack metrics:

  • CB400 battery unit = 153Wh/kg
  • Wh/litre
  • W/kg
  • W/litre
  • $/kWh
  • Cell to Pack mass ratio
  • Cell to Pack volume ratio
